As a Div 1 NCAA coach I am astounded by how many coaches and athletes think performance is only what they do in the gym, on the sand, or in the weight room. All that matters is those 90mins of training....and its so much more than that, I wish all of my athletes could have this insight. When athletes are educated about their process and consistently invest in their recovery and preparation for training they take the step to the next level of performance. Not only that, but this professional approach could change the lifespan of an athlete's career. Mischa says it really well here, Our bodies are incredible and will find a way to make things work and create for us, which could cause injury...why would I want my athletes to run on an empty tank when they could learn to keep their tank full. Outstanding, impactful, and honestly life changing.

As an athlete, I find at times I can become complacent with my nutrition and recovery, when I'm constantly going to training, weights, etc. I think "I'm doing enough, I go to practice twice a day, lift weights, what more do I need to be doing?" Of course the answer is you need to be doing a LOT more! This course is informative and broadens the perspective on what it means to be an empowered athlete. It includes a brief overview of what athletes need to be incorporating into their daily lives and how they can strive for a more balanced lifestyle. If anything, the course can allow people to understand that what they put in their bodies and do to recover are just as important, if not more important to their performance, than lifting those extra weights. My favourite take away from the course was the quote "relax to rebuild", because without being able to recover properly, growth and development are not possible.
